Mission Lane Joins the American Fintech Council (AFC) To Support Coalition of Responsible Innovators in Financial Services

Fintech platform dedicated to responsible and transparent credit access for underserved consumers

Richmond, VA (September 15, 2026) – The American Fintech Council (AFC), the largest industry association representing both responsible fintech companies and innovative banks, announced the addition of Mission Lane as its newest member. Mission Lane, a purpose-driven fintech, uses advanced technology, data, and machine learning, to help individuals build credit and improve their financial health. As a part of AFC, Mission Lane will contribute to industry efforts that seek to promote fair, transparent, and compliant financial services for all consumers.

“Providing transparent and accessible options for consumers who are building their credit is essential for creating a financial system that is truly inclusive,” said Phil Goldfeder, CEO of the American Fintech Council. “Mission Lane’s innovative approach allows them to look beyond credit scores and focus on helping people reach their financial potential. We look forward to collaborating with Mission Lane on clear regulatory frameworks that help more consumers benefit from inclusive and responsible credit options across the financial system.”

Mission Lane’s credit cards are built around clear terms – and a customer experience designed to help people keep moving toward the future they're building – with proactive alerts, ongoing credit line reviews, and free credit score access built into the product rather than treated as an afterthought. Mission Lane is also working towards the formation of Mission Lane Bank, a deliberate, well-prepared decision that reflects confidence in its team, its mission, and its institutional maturity.

“We've maintained a dedicated focus on expanding what's possible for everyday Americans building better futures. Because we don't serve credit profiles - we serve people with stories, challenges, and goals,” said Frank Borchert, Chief Legal Officer at Mission Lane. “Joining the American Fintech Council reflects our commitment to responsible innovation and to the nearly 70 million Americans still underserved by traditional credit. We're proud to stand alongside a broad and growing coalition of fintechs and forward-thinking banks working to build a more transparent, inclusive financial system.”

A standards-based organization, the American Fintech Council is the largest and most diverse trade association representing financial technology (fintech) companies and innovative banks. On behalf of over 150 member companies and partners, AFC promotes a transparent, inclusive, and customer-centric financial system by supporting responsible innovation in financial services and encouraging sound public policy. AFC members foster competition in consumer finance and pioneer products to better serve underserved consumer segments and geographies.
